Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!!

A story teller and illustrator without equal. When you think that his first book AND TO THINK THAT I SAW IT ON MULBERRY STREET (still one of my favorites) was turned down by over 20 publishers you have to shake your head in wonder. Thank goodness sanity and Dr. Seuss prevailed.

  1. Honestly? I have never read/seen a book by Dr Seuss. Does that make me uneducated? I guess so.

  2. Well, Iris, easy enough to remedy. I'd recommend a copy of either HORTON HATCHES AN EGG or AND TO THINK THAT I SAW IT ON MULBERRY STREET.

My work here is done. :)

  3. Always look forward to this day each year. My students never tire of reading old Doc's books. Today's choice, "Green Eggs and Ham"

  4. ESEteacher: Thanks for dropping by. I wonder how many kids first get turned onto reading by picking up a Dr. Seuss. Plenty, I'll bet. The man was - is - a national treasure.
