The review today from the NY Times for Brian Bedford's theatrical production of Oscar Wilde's THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. It looks to be hilarious.
I would so love to see this production! It's running through March 6, so anything is possible. Though the way the reviews are going, it sounds as if it will be totally sold out, sooner rather than later. Maybe PBS will video the production. If only going into the city from way out here in northern NJ weren't such a major production...Honestly, you'd think there'd be a train that dropped you right in Grand Central Station - but there isnt'. It's just a chore going by bus. You arrive in the city already haggard and weary and the day's activities haven't even started yet.
Okay, stop complaining Yvette, and make it happen.
Yvette, I read reviews and it sounds like a wonderful production! This photo of the dour Lady Bracknell shows how well it was cast. Oscar Wilde was a genius that was unfortunately ahead of his time.
ReplyDeleteI live in Brooklyn and it sometimes take me an hour to get to Times Square (bus and subway) so I know what you mean! :)
Pat, sometimes it can take up to two hours to get into the city from here. One of several reasons I rarely go in. I do like knowing the city is relatively close by, though. In my heart of hearts I'll ALWAYS be a New Yorker.;)
