Can't help it, I LOVE this little fringed Ralph Lauren skirt!

Of course, I couldn't ever wear it. Well, maybe when I was 20 or so. But even if I had the dough to buy it  now, I certainly don't have the figure and I am definitely in the wrong age group. But ever since I saw this skirt during Fashion Week, I've kept the pix in my file meaning to mention it sometime, somewhere. But since it's way off-topic and I can't find anything to relate it to, this is as good a moment as any.

I think this design was in Lauren's 2011 Spring collection, but possibly even last year's collection. Can't remember. But in case you're going to go right out and buy it, I'm sure you can find it on the Lauren website. Just make sure you have a wad of cash.

Oh, but I do love this little skirt. It's just the sort of thing I'd wear in an alternate universe.

And doesn't this incredible gown just about make you swoon?

  1. The skirt is cute.

I do have one philosphy in life: If you can walk, talk, breathe, and eat on your own, you are young enough to do whatever or wear whatever the hell you want to.

  2. The skirt is very nice. Although I haven't worn a skirt in decades, I still like to look at nice clothing.

The dress is beautiful. I have never worn anything like this in my life, but it's fun to look at them. A relative of mine would like it in wine or a nice blue. I'd say a light bluish-gray or a midnight blue.

I can't believe I'm saying this, have never worn anything like this and never will.

  3. I love that skirt, too! I don't know why it wouldn't work in a slightly longer (knee covering) length. Designers should offer skirts and dresses in more than one length. They'd have a wider market. Now, as for the price, I'm definitely a Marshalls, T J Maxx or Ross sort of buyer. Ridiculous to spend so much money on clothes when you can get perfectly lovely, well-made, often designer, things for much less!

  5. Do not be ridiculous. You could wear this skirt. A 70 year old could wear this skirt as long as she was not too heavy. The problem is the length, not the skirt. Even a 35 year old would have trouble with this length.

  6. Kathy: I'm with you. I haven't worn a skirt or dress in years and years. And I've NEVER worn a gown.
I am a total pants person and always will be. But I do admire nice girly clothes from afar. :)

I always invent an alter ego and dress THAT Yvette in these sorts of beautiful clothing.

Alternate universe - you know. Ha!

I really do enjoy the Ralph Lauren fashion shows online during Fashion Week, especially.

Though I don't wear anything close to them, I really do appreciate beautiful clothes.

  7. Joan: I so agree with you. I love Marshalls and T.J. Maxx. Maxx is especially good if you love jewelry. I'm a semi-precious stone person myself. LOVE turquoise. :)

I like that three length idea. I think that's always available when you buy made to order. If you're Miss Ritzy-Ritz, that is. :)

  8. Betsy: Oh, I would definitely have to slim down to wear anything close to this. And my budget doesn't allow for Ralph Lauren at the moment. But I still enjoy looking at beautiful clothing.

There's still a 'girly-girl' inside me somewhere. Ha!

  9. Yes! I love turquoise and coral, and combinations therein with silver -- the Southwest, Native American and Mexican influences and style.

If I suddenly came into some money, and bills weren't a problem (Ha!), I would buy a beautiful silver necklace with turquoise and coral designed by Native American jewelry designers. That's my most extravagant desire jewelry-wise.

  10. Kathy: I'll never forget how Sophia Loren combined turquoise with red at some even I saw on TV.
She looked spectacular in that combo. Love it.

Of course she'd look pretty good in just about anything, but you know what I mean.

I love Native American silver and turquoise too.

  11. True. Sophia Loren would look good in anything. She is and was a stunning woman, and a good actress, too.

I never saw her wearing turquoise and red. Wish I had.

  12. Kathy: It was one of the Oscar red carpet walks several years ago.

She had on a tomato red dress with a gorgeous turquoise necklace. Fabulous!

  13. WOW! Wish I'd seen her. Well, when I have a free moment, I'll search the Web and see if I can find Sophia Loren's photo in that outfit.
