Saturday Salon: A Favorite Painting - or Two or Three.

Not an artist I'm all that familiar with, except that these paintings knock me out. Janet Fish (1938 - ) is a modern day 'realist' painter and print maker, whose work, most especially her assorted paintings in which glass objects are featured prominently, made me sit up and take notice when I saw them online a while back.

The spectacular use of color though, is the first thing that catches the eye. All three of these paintings make me feel as I'm sitting in the Mediterranean sun. I can't paint glass at all and light reflected through glass is beyond me. I admire anyone who does such a fine and special job of it. These remarkable paintings have a quirk to them, a sparkle of light, an exuberance - like nothing else I've seen. Just lovely, lovely work.
