Veterans Day Weekend

'Disabled Veteran' by Norman Rockwell

If we're free to celebrate Veteran's Day it is because of those who served and did their duty.

  1. yvette, how true. Did you ever see the movie Too young a hero? It's about a Texas boy 12 years old who served
in WW2. A true story.. Very good. yvonne

    1. No, I don't think I have, Yvonne. I believe there were lots of kids who served in both world wars by disguising their true age. I'll bet they all make for some fascinating stories.

  2. Indeed! This is a pretty rare image from Norman Rockwell; I remember from reading his very good autobiography that he was not keen on painting war scenes.

    1. But the ones he did, he did very well. This was one I was not too familiar with, Mark.

  3. Thanks for reminding us of that, Yvette. My father served in World War II, then was in the Air National Guard for many years, so I remember him on this day.

    1. You're welcome, TracyK. My father served in WWII as well. It's a good day to think about them.
