A new Challenge for the New Year from Bev over at MY READER'S BLOCK. It's a no-brainer for me: A VINTAGE MYSTERY READING CHALLENGE FOR 2011! You have the whole year to read up as many vintage mysteries (written before 1960) as you like. Bev has split the categories up and I've yet to choose one, but I'm thinking maybe I'll go all the way and pick Take 'Em to Trial - 16+ books. Well, maybe I'm getting carried away - but why not? I LOVE VINTAGE MYSTERIES!! I don't have to make up my mind right this minute though...
Thank you Bev, for thinking this up. It is going to be a pleasure. Okay, made up my mind. I'm going full throttle: Take 'Em to Trial - 16+ Books!
Hurray! Someone else who know the North books! (Have you read any of the other Lockridge books? Inspector Heimrich? Nathan Shapiro?) Welcome to the challenge! Just let me know when you're set on your level, so I can add you to list of potential prize winners.
ReplyDeleteNot only that, but I'm old enough to remember the old television show! No, I never read any other Lockeridge except the Mr. and Mrs. I'll have to see what I can find. This is my idea of fun!
ReplyDeleteI've got a couple of the tv episodes on dvd. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites was Ellery Queen's "The Finishing Stroke" - Christmas house party, 12 days of Christmas, 12 clues, 1929. I always thought it would make a good movie.
ReplyDeleteBev: No kidding. I didn't even know they were available ANYWHERE.
ReplyDeleteJacqueline: Don't remember that one. But it does sound like a movie idea to me. I don't think I ever read more than a few Ellery Queens. My library seems to have a few of them. We'll see what I can come up with.
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely okay for you to choose your books along the way...the only thing I ask people to do is lock in their challenge level. And, even if you did choose your books now, you can change your list at any time (just not your level).
ReplyDeleteGood. I already posted my category. I'm going for the maximum!! Ha!
