But now it's a fancy restaurant, but the outside is still plain and unnoticeable.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-92130033687644633092017-10-22T18:07:29.969-04:002017-10-22T18:07:29.969-04:00I love that part of NY too, Kathy. We did an actual fashion shoot in her apartment and out back in the garden. Just a lovely place. My brother and I and our friends used to go to clubs in the Village and we also enjoyed just walking around gawking at people and looking in the shops and stuff. Fun times. Can't beat that. :)Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-90189618007053919582017-10-21T06:43:45.966-04:002017-10-21T06:43:45.966-04:00Greenwich Village! And then hung out on MacDougal Street in my later high school years and in the summers after that.

A few weeks ago I walked along Bleecker Street to Christopher and Hudson streets. I still love walking through those streets. There aren't as many unique shops -- bookstores, leather-shoe-and-purse making stores, artists' studios, record stores, cafes, places to get coffee and Italian pastries, jewelry shops. (I got my ears pierced for $10 in 1965 for $10, which included a pair of gold studs.)

My aunt lived in our old apartment for 50 years. She had been a dancer and knew tons of people on Broadway and in the music, writing and art world. She was a friend of Noguchi and Meridel LaSoeur, and many other known artists of many kinds.

So, I know that neighborhood. But I think except for a few Bernie Rhodenbarr mysteries comedies, and a mention in a few NYC-based books, I haven't read books set there. I must read this book.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-44760343786037396362017-10-20T17:45:01.398-04:002017-10-20T17:45:01.398-04:00I have not read anything by Kelly Roos, and I shou...I have not read anything by Kelly Roos, and I should look for this book. Although I must have read about the authors somewhere, I did not remember that they wrote about a couple, I always like stories like that. This book was turned into a favourite movie of mine, A Night to Remember. The 1942 release starred Loretta Young and Brian Aherne as the couple moving into the apartment and running into all those kooks. Sidney Toler plays a cop!
