(Welcome back, ...Yes, you definitely should, Kathy. (Welcome back, you've been missed around these parts.) I enjoyed THE INN AT LAKE DEVINE enormously. I grew up in Manhattan in the 40's and 50's and so many of my friends were Jewish that I kind of imprinted on them. :) I'm very familiar with a certain way of looking at life. Kathy have you read THE ADVENTURES OF KAVALIER AND CLAY by Michael Chabon? I can't recommend it highly enough. LOVE that book.

P.S. So much fun that I used to laugh out lout. Part of my family was Jewish and the humor in The Inn at Lake Devine and other of her books get right to the heart of the wit involved.

But I think my favorite at the time was My Latest Grievance," about a teenage daughter of progressive parents working at a college. My teenage self had some of the same experiences and thoughts -- and I laughed constantly.

I should read more of her books when I need to laugh and rest.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-47891592600153140722016-10-22T15:16:35.907-04:002016-10-22T15:16:35.907-04:00Too long for a category, Yvette, and I like your r...Too long for a category, Yvette, and I like your review so much more.Mathew Pausthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06157135006791553019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-88755413690443514052016-10-22T15:13:07.148-04:002016-10-22T15:13:07.148-04:00It IS much ado about nothing, but you know, that d...It IS much ado about nothing, but you know, that didn't stop Shakespeare. I had to look twice at "chick lit" to make sure this wasn't of that genre, altho I would never have expected it of you. Coincidentally, I double took at a prospective agent's lists of likes the other day, among which was "chick lit". I'd just added the word "girl" to the title of the manuscript I'm hawking, and almost sent her a query. No way, tho, would anyone ever consider anything I write as "chick lit". The Way Men Act, does sound like a fun read.
