This strange fad all started with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and got way out of hand over a two year period. Maybe it was three years. There's another book about Queen Victoria and the Royal Family as a band of vampire hunters. And a spoof of "The Metamorphosis" in which Gregor Samsa wakes up to find he is a kitten instead of a cockroach called The Meowmorphosis.
