When you run out of Heyer's books, there are regencies by the late, great Edith Layton (I know you like her books too), whose style is similar to Heyer's in its wit, detailed research, and accuracy in early 19th-century language and fashion.Debnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-14285762130613764142012-01-27T10:16:59.276-05:002012-01-27T10:16:59.276-05:00Carol: I'm adding your title to my Heyer list....Carol: I'm adding your title to my Heyer list. I discovered Heyer through the mystery side, and the quality of her writing has convinced me that her other work will be worth reading. I've "An Infamous Army" on the iPad, and plan to read it soon. I've read that it was required reading at Sandhurst (Britain's West Point) for it's excellent depiction of the Battle of Waterloo. So much for just being a romance writer!Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02069656952527430818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-77825926055847759372012-01-27T09:03:14.680-05:002012-01-27T09:03:14.680-05:00This is definitely one of my favourite Heyers, I d...This is definitely one of my favourite Heyers, I don't know how many times I've read it and it still makes me laugh.Victoria Corbyhttp://victoriacorby.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-20404496217482067612012-01-27T08:50:48.639-05:002012-01-27T08:50:48.639-05:00I love this vintage cover -- gorgeous! After reading a biography of her life, I learned that she was committed to thorough and meticulous research about period details (from clothes, manners, speech, customs, etc...) and that is one aspect of her books that I enjoy. I've added a few of her mysteries to my library as well and find all of my GH books to have been a fun, enjoyable experience

Great review -- I certanly will be running to find this one!Joannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07716758796036142540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-42583179888614834642012-01-26T22:11:33.262-05:002012-01-26T22:11:33.262-05:00I just love GH.
