I wouldn't go that far, but it is a great deal of fun. And I think it's one of the earliest uses of what might be called "serial solutions," a technique that certainly can be found in Christie, Ellery Queen and lots more. I am an avid Sherlock Holmes reader and movie-watcher. To find a similar detective in Trent, from the early 20th century, is a book I have to read. Also, I like the flowery type of writing -- I love the really old Gothic novels from the late 17th, early 18th century, and I love Dickens, so bring it on!
