( the best being in Hay-
on-Wye), trying to describe the plot of a book I read many years ago
from our local library but without remembering neither the title or
author; and after just reading your latest blog there it is; perfectly
described, even with the head buried in the snow. 'Appleby's End'. To
the bookshop this afternoon to place an order. Will I like it? not so
sure, but at last my quest is over.
Many Thanks
Michaelpattinase (abbott)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02916037185235335846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-68429836646103740472015-06-12T21:46:12.902-04:002015-06-12T21:46:12.902-04:00Meant to say I'd totally forgotten having writ...Meant to say I'd totally forgotten having written about APPLEBY'S END before. Now I know Les loves LAMENT FOR A MAKER, but I didn't like it very much either, John. I think I've been reading them over the past few years at just the right time. They are loads of fun on audible too. So many raves about it and it definitely sounds like it's up my alley, Yvette. You love it so much you have written about it twice! Did you know that? The other post is dated 2011.The only Innes I have read so far is THE DAFFODIL AFFAIR. It was several years ago but I still remember it in great detail. How can anyone forget that book having read it once? I thought it a phantasmagorical wonder. Defies categorization and breaks all rules according to detective fiction. My second attempt at Innes was LAMENT THE MAKER -- twice! But I have never gotten past the first narrator with his nearly impenetrable Scottish brogue and 80 pages in which almost nothing happens. I'll try to get to APPLEBY'S END later in the summer.J F Norrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06473487417479127354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-46584742851179499022015-06-12T11:39:15.897-04:002015-06-12T11:39:15.897-04:00I read quite a lot of the Appleby series when I wa...I read quite a lot of the Appleby series when I was younger, and I read some of the Honeybath series too.
