I am a fan and his role had me watching the Lynley stories, along with Sharon Small as Barbara Haver.

But I did not see him at Gamache. For one thing, Gamache is a Quebecois, so I was hoping for an actor who is also a Quebecois.
But since it isn't this way, I'd settle for Parker.

But not if the movie doesn't capture the village or the location or the mood or the eccentricities galore. The characters in that town make it crackle. So, if this isn't the case, why bother seeing it?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-29751505098865427472014-09-23T15:16:42.240-04:002014-09-23T15:16:42.240-04:00Yeah. Or for that matter, having them arrive in the mail.

I don't blame you (and your cousin) for not wanting to see this film version of Gamache and Three Pines. You're not missing anything. My only thought is that perhaps they didn't have enough money to put the thing together properly. Three Pines and the characters who live there are too precious to us. I know what Gamache and Ruth and Clara and Reine-Marie look like. I know what Three Pines looks like. I don't want that spoiled.

I've read all the books in the series, but I didn't read them strictly in order. I almost never re-read, but these are so good that I've started collecting them and plan to read them from start to finish. Amazon has several of them on sale today (maybe longer than that) and I've just treated myself to a small gift of the five I don't have!joan.kylerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17015342608992682333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-38298442720002653782014-09-23T07:29:48.465-04:002014-09-23T07:29:48.465-04:00Thanks, I'll stick to the books. Thanks, I'll stick to the books.Gramhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01027824918114690029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-56627640351057888602014-09-23T03:16:50.245-04:002014-09-23T03:16:50.245-04:00You've convinced me Yvette that I should give ...You've convinced me Yvette that I should give this a miss and start reading the books - as always, we are exceedingly grateful (obviously, using the 'royal oui' here ...)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-81901243012188185872014-09-23T02:55:09.955-04:002014-09-23T02:55:09.955-04:00Yvette,

I didn't like him as Lynley, so I didn't want to have that hanging over this film. I've only read one of Penny's Gamache novels, but I just couldn't see Parker in the role. Thanks for the review. This looks like one to miss.Fredhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10233846613173866140noreply@blogger.com
