I'll see if I can find it at the library. I know she had a remarkable life following with her husband from country to country as he was in the military, if I'm remembreing correctly. In DEATH IN CYPRUS, there is the most wonderful description of the ideal flower and ivy covered cottage we'd all love to live in. Yes, part of her charm is she made you feel as if you were THERE.Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-11977221401530622062011-03-08T09:45:49.971-05:002011-03-08T09:45:49.971-05:00I have read only Death in Kashmir - just before I ...I have read only Death in Kashmir - just before I began my blog in 2006. I wrote briefly: "And what a joy this book was. I don't think there is any author who knows her locale and writes of it so exactly and so lovingly as M. M. Kaye. The reader sees every tree, and feels every change in the air. The mystery is a good one, and the characters were really great."

Ever since, I have meant to read the others. Yvette, have you read her masterpiece of autobiographical writing in three volumes? I've never read anything like it. She notes that she had a gift of memory so there are extraordinary details of her life and locales. Her outlook on life is so cheerful and optimistic. Such a pleasure to read.
1. You can sit in your chair at home and travel to places from long ago and just have a great time.
If you're lucky you might find an anthology, as I did, of several of the mysteries.Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-49320549382276788982011-03-08T09:42:50.262-05:002011-03-08T09:42:50.262-05:00Juxtabook: Depending on your mood, I'd begin w...Juxtabook: Depending on your mood, I'd begin with THE FAR PAVILIONS, then take it from there.
It's such an amazing book. No one writes this kind of thing anymore, at least that I know about. Just a great romantic, adventure story with brilliant characterizations. You will get lost in it, I promise.Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-84887809232306595052011-03-08T09:40:06.120-05:002011-03-08T09:40:06.120-05:00Mystica: Yes, FAR PAVILLIONS was a terrific book. ...Mystica: Yes, FAR PAVILLIONS was a terrific book. I wept near the end. A hefty book, but it reads so quickly. A wonderful book. One of those 'thumping' great reads that just takes you out of yourself.Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-52155853340431541132011-03-08T09:37:12.801-05:002011-03-08T09:37:12.801-05:00Bev: I was lucky enough to find an anthology of fo...Bev: I was lucky enough to find an anthology of four of her mysteries a few years ago and that's how I was introduced to those books.
