Although it's another film I haven't seen in a very long time, your loving, lyrical descriptions of the boy and "The Black" really brought back the feeling of really getting into this modern classic. Like you, I'm mystified as to why THE BLACK STALLION didn't get a truckload of Oscars. Why is it that so many such films all too often take years to be recognized as a timeless classic? Well, at least people can appreciate it now, and I guess that's the most important thing! I have been holding on to the CD. It's one of the most innocent films I have seen, if that makes sense. I wish the film was centered entirely around the little boy and the great black with no other elements in it except for the sand and sea. The sequel, THE RETURN OF THE BLACK STALLION, also based on Farley's book I think, didn't work as well for me. Never touch a classic.Prashant C.
