They are showing it on December 23 -- followed by the other four of the Powell / Loy series. And I've seen them often. I have to add "The Christmas Story," with the little boys, one who wants a bb gun.
In fact, my neighbor's 6-year-old answered my question of "what do you want for Christmas," by answering, "a bb gun and a trampoline." I replied that as the movie says, "a bb gun can poke your eye out," and a trampoline is too big for an apartment.
I'll try to find a few of these classics.
How are the grandchildren? I love The Man Who Came to Dinner because it made my daughter a Grant Mitchell fan!

The 1951 version of A Christmas Carol has been our Christmas Eve tradition for as long as I can remember. A couple of years ago when I gave the Robert Zemeckis/Jim Carrey version a try despite my dislike of stop motion. I caught a scene while channel surfing and was intrigued. Surprisingly, it is now my second favourite version of the story.

This year I have introduced my daughter to three off-the-beaten-track Christmas movies to joy, tears and success: Kathy O' (1958), The Holly and the Ivy (1952) and Three Godfathers (1936). We are well on our way to adding new traditions to the old. LADY ON A TRAIN is SO much fun. It's the only Deanna Durbin movie I think I've ever seen or for that matter, ever want to see. :)Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-17902244694025227182016-12-18T10:22:30.140-05:002016-12-18T10:22:30.140-05:00I wouldn't lend my CDs either, Prashant. :) I ...I wouldn't lend my CDs either, Prashant. :) I did review CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT, yes. I've reviewed all these movies in the past. But since they are my favorites I'll just keep on reminding everyone at Christmas time. I try to refresh the language every year. :)Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-71690854402519945902016-12-18T10:20:17.606-05:002016-12-18T10:20:17.606-05:00I'm glad I reminded you, Nan. :) LOVE, ACTUALL...I'm glad I reminded you, Nan. :) LOVE, ACTUALLY is a good one, I love Hugh Grant in it. But I'm always saddened by the Alan Rickman/Emma Thompson story line. I don't seem to be familiar with THE HOLIDAY. I'll look it up. I have said before that I should watch Lady on a Train but I still have not done that. And I don't know why I haven't ever tried Christmas in Connecticut either. I know I read a review and then watched the film and liked it too. It's one of very few Barbara Stanwyck movies I have seen. As for Laurel & Hardy, what can I say — they're such great fun and so full of innocence. They're on top of our list of favourite comedians. The one thing I don't lend is our collection of L&H CDs. Well, actually two — I don't lend my comic-books either!Prashant C. They are now in my queue. I own Christmas in Connecticut and love it.
