And the native cop is shown as a hero in the first episode.

One of the best things about TV is that you can yell and even throw things and nobody has to know. Ha!

And don't forget that the main character always one-ups his commander. He has nothing but contempt for him and his ways.Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-48553527101497388932013-12-01T21:09:35.817-05:002013-12-01T21:09:35.817-05:00I watched Heat of the Sun, Hide in Plain Sight, wh...I watched Heat of the Sun, Hide in Plain Sight, which was part two. This was purely accidental. I'll get parts one and three.

I liked it, the actors are good. Even gay relations were included, and obviously, socially acceptable.

However, I have a deep dislike and aversion to British colonialism, so I yelled at the TV a few times, as the British imposed their laws, rules and "morality," on the Kenyan people, who, it seems, had no choice in the matter. I just cringed at some scenes. Punishing women for not having 5 shillings apiece, when they lived in a subsistence economy on the land, where money was not intrinsic to the culture, was a bit much.

The fact that the culprits were all British was a plus, and that they were exploiting the people was good to show. But the British are show as superior to the people, in education, intelligence, etc. Not my thing.

Fortunately, Kena won its independence.

But I'll watch the other parts, and give myself license to yell and mutter at the TV. I like the main actor and some of the other characters, not the soldier who shoots people at will.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-1865222227625695712013-11-30T22:38:45.880-05:002013-11-30T22:38:45.880-05:00I had a wonderful time with family and doggies, Ka...I had a wonderful time with family and doggies, Kathy. Sounds like you had a good time as well. Rocky got many scraps, the little demon. Ha! Even some unintended ones.
Oh, let me know how you like HEAT OF THE SUN. I hope you do. I'm watching an old movie mystery right at the moment, with Edward Arnold. I'll be reporting on Tuesday. Stay tuned.Yvettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08919246184376538331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-86232935158990520732013-11-30T21:29:46.351-05:002013-11-30T21:29:46.351-05:00So glad that you saw your family, including the tw...So glad that you saw your family, including the two beautiful grandchildren.
I was lucky enough to partake due to the largesse of my neighbor, whose dog and cat were in heaven over the turkey scraps.
Of course, the dog whined and carried on over my piece of pumpkin pie. She cried and licked me for 15 minutes, which I knew was all a ploy for that delicious pie, of which she got none!
A day to read and watch dvd's. I'm watching Dalziel and Pascoe TV episodes, excellent. House of Cards (British and U.S. versions) were too Machiavellian for me. And since animal cruelty is in addition to the human cruelty, no thanks.
And I got out of the library the first dvd of Heat of the Sun, Hide in Plain Sight from recommendations right here.
Hope your weekend was lots of fun with Rocky, snacks and old movies.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3185294584889963228.post-88416076166774285062013-11-29T13:53:33.995-05:002013-11-29T13:53:33.995-05:00Thanks, Joan. I'll be celebrating with friends and one elderly dog who will doubtlessly get some scraps (I wouldn't be surprised if she's already gotten a few!).Mark D.
